Hughenden Street Association Update, March 2018
The Hughenden Street association now has 85 members out of a target of 150, covering 59 streets in the parish of Hughenden. This initiative is to lend support to existing groups such as the Neighbourhood Watch, and street reps, by providing information and links to appropriate services. 30 meetings and events have been held, all well attended to publicise the initiative among local networks, including a recent coffee morning in Widmer End at which more residents backed the initiative and had an enjoyable morning chatting.
The Street Association has also worked with Naphill’s Bon-Ami coffee shop and also at the Hughenden Valley shop and café. There are ‘Monday Mingle’ and ‘Welcome Wednesday’ coffee meet ups where residents are encouraged to both get to know each other and those from a wider area. All done over a happy cup of coffee or tea and refreshments.
A further meeting for the Members is currently planned to gain feedback and ideas. Four Prevention Matters referrals were reported in October 2017 and they are being investigated. If there is anyone who is interested do please contact Ann McCarthy, 01494 712004) or Stan Jones (or the Parish Clerk) on 01494 716276
If we can all work together to help protect our community and especially its older residents from some of the dreadful scams and frauds that sadly these days are all too common, then it’s all worth the effort.
